Metso supplies multifuel-fired boiler to Finland

Metso will supply Kuopion Energia Oy with a multi-fuel fired power
boiler to their new combined heat and power (CHP) plant located in
Haapaniemi, in the town of Kuopio, Finland. Start-up of the boiler is
scheduled for the end of 2011. The total value of Kuopion Energia's
investment is EUR 135 million of which Metso's equipment and
installation delivery covers approximately half. The equipment
delivery will be included in Metso Paper's Q4 orders received.

Metso Power will supply for the power plant a power boiler (149 MWth)
which will utilize circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology and
will burn peat and forest residues to produce district heat for the
city of Kuopio and electricity to the national grid.

With the CFB combustion technology Kuopion Energia will be able to
increase the capacity of the power plant and the usage of bio fuels,
as well as reduce the consumption of oil.

The new boiler will replace the first pulverized peat fired boiler
built at Haapaniemi power plant in 1972 by Metso. At that time the
power plant was the first municipal power plant using milled peat as
its main fuel.

Kuopion Energia Oy produces electricity and district heat, and sells
electricity. Company's net sales totaled EUR 47 million in 2007 and
it has approximately 120 employees. The production of Kuopion Energia
is centralized in two power plants at Haapaniemi. The main fuel in
use is local peat. The company utilizes also wind power and bio gas
in their energy production.
