Notification of voting rights pursuant to § 21 para. 1 WpHG 

October 2008

Barclays Global Investors NA, San Francisco, USA, informed us according to
section 21, paragraph 1 of the German Securities Trading Act that as of
October 27, 2008 they fell below the threshold of 3% of the voting rights
in LANXESS AG and hold on that day 2.958% of the voting rights. This
corresponds to 2,461,520 voting rights.

Of these 2.958% of the voting rights (i.e. 2,461,520 shares with voting
rights), BGI NA was attributed 0.021% of the voting rights (i.e. 17,777
shares with voting rights) in Lanxess AG pursuant to § 22 para. 1 sent.1
no. 6 in connection with § 22 para. 1 sent. 2 WpHG and 2.937% of the voting
rights (i.e. 2,443,743 shares with voting rights) in Lanxess AG pursuant to
§ 22 para. 1 sent. 1 no. 6.
