Follow the Adventures of The Ears at the Top of the Stairs -- New Children's Book Tells About a Pet Who Becomes a New Member of the Family

ROHNERT PARK, Calif., Oct. 30, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It would take Tom Parker two steps, three steps for his wife Rita and six steps for their daughter Rosie, before they can see The Ears at the Top of the Stairs. Find out what pet they have and follow the events that happened when they welcomed the new addition in their family in author Delmas Levi Gay's delightful story that kids will love.

Tom Parker was not fond of cats. For him, they were good for nothing but looking cute. He liked dogs better so he can have a hunting companion. His daughter Rosie, however, was dead set on having a cat and nothing could sway her. They compromised and got a gray kitten she named "Smoky," except she can only say "Moky." Tom also got a new hound dog, Bob, who surprisingly got along well with Smoky. Smoky's favorite spot was at the top of the stairs where she can see everyone who entered the house. In this position, Tom, Rita and Rosie can see her ears at the top of the stairs when they take a few steps. In time, Tom got used to the new addition but he still loved his dog better.

One day, Smoky accidentally got out of the house and was lost. Rosie was distraught and Tom used Bob to track Smoky's whereabouts. When they found her, she was terribly injured and on the brink of death. It would require major surgery and a lot of money -- money which they didn't have -- to make Smoky well. A logical option would be to put her to sleep. But how would Tom and Rita tell Rosie explain about Smoky's death? Will they have to find another kitten to replace her? Find out what is the fate of The Ears at the Top of the Stairs!
