The power plant will supply around 650 households with environmentally friendly electricity. Moreover, the system will cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 2,000 tons a year, which is the amount that would have been produced by generating electricity from fossil fuels. Phoenix Solar AG is a leading international photovoltaic systems integrator. Its Ulm branch is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of large photovoltaic power plants of dimensions which go into the multi-megawatt range. The team headed by Chief Technology Officer Manfred Bächler had already installed a facade-integrated photovoltaic system on SWUs depot back in 1997. The solar power plant on EvoBus GmbH's production facilities, which is Phoenix Solars biggest roof-mounted system to date, will consist of around 13,500 crystalline solar modules which will be mounted on 14 shed roofs with a combined surface area of around 18,000 square meters. Phoenix Solar is planning to finish the power plant in December so that it may begin feeding environmentally friendly energy into SWUs grid before the end of this year. Financing will be provided via an investment concept for power customers of SWU.
