ROK On a Roll With 2.5 Million Users Worldwide, Targets 6 Million in 2009

LONDON, Nov. 10, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ROK Entertainment Group (OTCBB:ROKE), the global mobile entertainment company, announces it has achieved the milestone of 2.5 million users across its suite of mobile services and applications worldwide and is targeting 6 million users within 12 months.

"The growth of the worldwide cellular market over the last 25 years has been a remarkable phenomenon and, with massive growth in the developing world, the industry is bucking the downward economic trend in spectacular fashion," said Jonathan Kendrick, Group CEO of ROK.

There are 3.5 billion mobile phones in use worldwide in the trillion dollar mobile industry and this is forecast to grow to 5.8 billion by 2013 whereupon 80% of the world's population will own a mobile phone. China and India combined are adding 20 million new mobile phone users every month to the worldwide cellular market.

With cellphones developing into mini-computers, they are increasingly being used for much more than just talk and text.

"5.8 billion mobile phones is more than twice the total number of all the TV sets, all the computers and all the cinema screens in the world combined and, in 25 years since its inception, the mobile industry represents the world's greatest ever adoption of new technology," added Kendrick. "With mobile data revenues set to grow to $350 billion by 2013 and the mobile advertising market set to grow to $7 billion in the same period, ROK is heavily focused on providing relevant, useful and appropriate advertising-funded services as well as subscription-based services to our operators and device manufacturing partners globally."

As mobile phone penetration approaches market saturation, it's the operators themselves who are actively seeking to arrest declining average revenue per user (ARPU) by offering, enabling and encouraging customers to utilize more mobile services than just talk and text.

ROK's portfolio of mobile products include high-quality mass-market streamed mobile TV, mobile push email services, location-based marketing, data-compression technologies, on-device content portals, mobile WAP and web services, made-for-mobile content production and low-cost mobile calling technologies.

ROK Products are already deployed with a growing number of operators worldwide as well as on Nokia and Samsung handsets and ROK is an active member of the Nokia Developers Forum and the Telenor 'Playground' Group.

ROK Entertainment Group, www.rokcorp.com, founded in 2004, is a global mobile entertainment group. ROK has filed more than 40 international patents for its suite of revenue-generating mobile technologies, applications and services. With 3.3 billion mobile handsets in use worldwide -- forecast to grow to 5.8 billion by 2013 -- the mobile entertainment industry is a multi-billion dollar business.
