BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - November 11, 2008) - Rogue Wave Software, Inc., the leader in
enterprise class C++ components and infrastructure, today announced its
participation at two premier industry events: SC08 and SOA World Conference
& Expo 2008 West.
Rogue Wave Software to Exhibit at SC08
Rogue Wave Software has been selected to be part of the Disruptive
Technologies area and will conduct demonstrations of its recently released
Rogue Wave®HydraEnterprise at SC08, which will be held November 15-21,
2008 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX in both a booth in the
Disruptive Technologies area (#3222) and in the main exhibition hall
(#2807).
The Rogue Wave team will demonstrate how developers in the financial
services industry can find solutions to transaction-heavy compute loads and
complex demands that result from intense number crunching. The demo is
based on a standard single-threaded implementation of financial models
creating using QuantLib.org, a reference in the Open-Source Financial
Libraries. The challenge is to make those computations available remotely,
but also to parallelize their executions on multicore CPU, service grid,
GPU, local or remote machines.
"Using Rogue Wave® Hydra we will demonstrate how developers can
distribute those computations in a multi/many core or a GPU environment
through a service-oriented approach," said Patrick Leonard, Vice President
of Engineering and Product Strategy at Rogue Wave. "The key is to provide
developers a flexible high-performance computing approach that will let you
run computation where it makes the most sense."
Rogue Wave's Patrick Leonard to Speak at SOA World West
Patrick Leonard will be speaking at SOA World West 08, which will be held
in San Jose November 20-21 at the Fairmount Hotel. His session, entitled
"Beyond the Multi-core dilemma: SOA For Parallel Computing" will be held
11/20 between 4:50-5:35pm and will address how high-throughput parallel
computing can be applied to a service-oriented architecture. By using this
approach, developers can deliver significant performance increases using
parallel computing techniques while maintaining the agility and flexibility
of a service-oriented environment.
"The model we call 'Business Process Parallelism' enables developers to run
multiple instances of a service on different threads and/or cores in a
service grid," said Leonard. "This approach enables both legacy and
service-oriented applications to be deployed in distributed environments on
multicore hardware without requiring the low level coding associated with
traditional tools."
The instructional session will educate the owners of key business
applications on how to take advantage of multiple cores in their systems
and use configuration rather than recoding of their key systems to take
advantage of the move to parallel computing. It will also examine how this
migration can help overcome the traditional limitations of SOA in high
performance environments.

About SC08
The SC Conference is the premier international conference for high
performance computing (HPC), networking, storage and analysis. SC08 marks
the 20th anniversary of the first SC Conference, then called
Supercomputing, held in Orlando, Florida in 1988. When SC08 opens November
15, 2008 in Austin, Texas, the conference will feature the latest
scientific and technical innovations from around the world. Bringing
together scientists, engineers, researchers, educators, programmers, system
administrators and managers, SC08 will be the forum for demonstrating how
these developments are driving new ideas, new discoveries and new
industries. For more information about this conference visit

About SOA World West 08
The 14th International SOA World Conference & Expo 2008 West will take
place on November 19-21, 2008 at The Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA.
The most important business benefit that service-oriented architecture
(SOA) can provide is the ability to respond swiftly to change: changes in
the market, the supply chain, strategic processes, and regulations. Make
sure that you are able in 2008/9 to declare your own company's SOA journey
toward such responsiveness and agility a success. Come to SOA World
Conference & Expo 2008 West and learn just how much SOA can do for your
business and for your developers.
About Rogue Wave® Hydra
The Rogue Wave® Hydra Suite is a suite of products for developing and
deploying high performance business applications. The suite consists of
HydraEnterprise, HydraExpress, and HydraSDO® working together to deliver
the agility and flexibility benefits a service oriented architecture (SOA)
inherently provides, without sacrificing the high performance businesses
require. The Rogue Wave Hydra Suite products can work standalone or
integrated together in an efficient service grid.
