Operation Homefront and Dollar Tree Team Up to Collect Holiday Gifts for Military Children

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 11, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Operation Homefront and Dollar Tree, Inc. (Nasdaq:DLTR) are once again working together to gather gifts for military children across the country. This holiday season, military families of all service branches will receive gifts donated by patrons of the more than 3,500 Dollar Tree stores nationwide, alongside other items donated to Operation Homefront.

This is the second year Dollar Tree stores are teaming up with the national nonprofit that aids military families in need. Last year, Dollar Tree patrons donated an estimated $4.5 million in toys; this year's goal is $5 million.

"Last year we were just thrilled with how successful the toy drive was," said Amy Palmer, chief operating officer for Operation Homefront. "Between Dollar Tree employees and their generous customers, we really helped make the holidays special for thousands of children."

"Dollar Tree is proud to once again be a national sponsor of Operation Homefront," said Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree spokesperson. "We are humbled by the sacrifices our military neighbors make and are honored to participate in this year's toy drive."

Dollar Tree will begin collecting items November 16 in their stores, and Operation Homefront volunteers will collect and distribute the gifts at events in and around each of the 30 chapter locations across America. Where Operation Homefront does not have a chapter, volunteers are providing local Family Readiness Groups with gifts for their command families, or the store will donate products to local charities.
