LINTHICUM, Md., Nov. 12, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) F. Suzanne Jenniches has been elected by Women in Aerospace (WIA) to the organization's Board of Directors.

Established in 1985, WIA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding women's opportunities for leadership and to increasing their visibility within the aerospace community.

At Northrop Grumman, Jenniches is sector vice president and general manager of the Government Systems Division, responsible for the company's Baltimore-based businesses of postal automation systems; international air defense and infrastructure systems; and homeland defense. She is also responsible for operational sites in Belgium, France, the Middle East and North Africa.
She has served on numerous committees and professional organizations. She was the past president of the national Society of Women Engineers, a past member to the United States Army Science Board, and a member of the National Research Council Committee on Commercial/Military Integration. She currently serves on the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering National Advisory Council and chairs the National Academy of Engineering "EngineerGirl!" Web site.
Jenniches joined the company in 1974 as an engineer responsible for computerized tests. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Clarion State College and her master's degree in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She has also completed extensive post-graduate work in international affairs at The Catholic University of America and has attended the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.
WIA's membership, which includes women and men, share an interest in a broad spectrum of aerospace issues, including human space flight, aviation, remote sensing, satellite communications, robotic space exploration, and the policy issues surrounding these fields.
