no 21/08 Torger Lien resigns as CEO of Nord Pool ASA


(Lysaker, 13 November 2008) Torger Lien resigns from his position as president & CEO of Nord Pool ASA from 31 December 2008. From 1 January 2009, general counsel in Nord Pool ASA, Erik Thrane, will take over his position as CEO.  

Torger Lien joined Nord Pool in July 2000. From 1 January 2009, he will start up as CEO of Fred Olsen Renewables AS. 

The new CEO, Erik Thrane, joined Nord Pool in 2002. As general counsel he has been in charge of all legal affairs within the Nord Pool group. He has also acted as compliance officer for the Nord Pool group. 

Update on the recent changes in management and responsibilities of Nord Pool ASA and the new NASDAQ OMX entities: 

Nord Pool ASA - future responsibilities and management:
 Nord Pool ASA holds the exchange license and maintains the responsibility for operating the exchange traded products both from Nord Pool ASA (Nordic derivatives) and NASDAQ OMX Commodities (German/Dutch derivatives and carbon contracts).

Senior vice president financial markets:  Marianne Wergeland Jenssen
Senior vice president finance:  Petter Torp

NASDAQ OMX Commodities - future responsibilities and management: 
 NASDAQ OMX Commodities owns the international derivatives and the carbon products.  NASDAQ OMX Commodities will offer members access to trading and clearing of Nordic, Dutch and German power derivatives, as well as carbon emission instruments. Nord Pool ASA will run the operation of these products on a service basis for NASDAQ OMX Commodities. The ambition is to create a global leader in energy derivatives and carbon products. 

In addition, NASDAQ OMX also owns Nord Pool Clearing ASA and Nord Pool Consulting AS. 

Head of NASDAQ OMX Commodities : Geir Reigstad
NASDAQ OMX Commodities will be headed by Geir Reigstad. He will be reporting to Hans-Ole Jochumsen, executive vice president NASDAQ OMX Nordic Transactions Services. Mr Reigstad has previously been managing director for Nord Pool Clearing ASA and the latest years as senior vice president for Nord Pool ASA's international projects and activities.
