Kirchheim/Teck, Germany, 13th November 2008 – Dialog Semiconductor plc
(FWB: DLG), a leading provider of Power Management Semiconductor solutions,
announces it has won the 2008 National Microelectronics Institute
(NMI)award for Innovation. Honoured by the NMI for Innovation with its
SmartXtend ™ passive matrix OLED Display Technology, Dialog was presented
the award by the Electronics Leaderships Council Chairman Harry Lee at the

impact through innovation.

In making the award, the remarks from the independent panel of judges
stated, 'Matching your own innovation to the needs of another is a smart
move, and that's exactly what this year’s winner Dialog has done. The idea
is focused on exploiting the critical market requirements in mobile
displays for low power and low cost. OLED technology has for some time
been viewed as the successor to LCD, bringing advantages in low power and
better picture and video quality. Introducing a new innovation in Passive
Matrix technology, Dialog is pushing forward with a semiconductor product
innovation that will enable the benefits of OLED to meet the aggressive
cost requirements of the mobile phone market. This is an innovation that
can have significant impact in one of the largest global markets.'
