Saab partner in upgrade for Canadian Navy

Saab has signed a contract worth approximately SEK 1.1 billion with Lockheed
Martin Canada, for being a partner in the design and development of a command
and control system to the Canadian Navy's twelve Halifax Class frigates.
Deliveries are planned for 2010-2017.

Saab will be a part of the development and integration of the command and
control system and fire control directors, as part of the modernization of the
Navy's frigate fleet. The complete system will be delivered by Lockheed Martin
Canada.

“We are proud to be a part of this project to boost the Canadian Navy's
capabilities. Saab's expertise is ideally placed to provide Lockheed Martin
Canada with the technology needed for a joint development of the command and
control system,” says Saab CEO Åke Svensson "Saab's world-class capability and reputation as a provider of naval command and
control systems is a tremendous complement to the Lockheed Martin technical
solution for the modernization of the Halifax Class," says Tom Digan, president
of Lockheed Martin Canada. "We have worked collaboratively for more than 18
months in anticipation of contract to ensure that this critical programme is
delivered to the Canadian Navy on-time with minimal disruption to the fleet."

The contract is subject to Canadian government approval.
