Listen to The Unheard Cry -- New Memoir Tells of the Author's Experience With Abuse and Her Struggle to Survive

MOYIE, British Columbia, Nov. 24, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For years, abuse has flourished in many forms throughout the centuries. Silence often follows this terrible crime, because of fear, deadly threats, and possible ruin for the victim. Author Patricia Palmer voices out The Unheard Cry as she shares her own experience with abuse and her difficult struggle for survival during her first eighteen years of life.

In the first volume of her survival story, Palmer bares her innermost thoughts and raw emotions in her personal journey of awareness, rejection, loneliness, fear, and loyalty. She shares how having adult responsibilities imposed at such an early age enjoined many insecurities and lethargic stress to her emotional baggage and strength. With the invisible terror, years of rejection, and inadequacy accompanying her, it was difficult for her to find contentment in her success.

As her life continued in a downward spiral, the author's neediness and the urge to fill the void led her to impulsive decisions and commitments that ended in disaster. She continued to search and long for "something" to change her sadness. Her search eventually led her to seek for love, purpose, and a better life and understanding as she rediscovered her faith in God. Through her intimate relationship with God, she is able to overcome the negativity of her surroundings and start anew.

Vividly explicit in her descriptions, Palmer expresses the severity of her experiences that is often so whitewashed for readers. Though it may disturb some, the painfully honest recollections reflect the bitter reality of her life and involve readers through her emotions. Palmer hopes that in sharing her story, many who are undergoing a similar experience will gain courage and find hope that there may yet be light at the end of their tunnel.

About the Author

Patricia Palmer was born on June 10, 1949 in Didsbury, Alberta, Canada. She and her husband Bobby enjoy their three children (Jeff, Anija, and James), their spouses (Sandra, Vaughn, and Monique) and nine grandchildren. She is in the process of writing the second volume of her book called "Life Beyond Survival." It is a continuation of her story from eighteen years to the present life where her life has had many more life-threatening events. In her writing, she is able to share the hardships and innermost feelings with objective views and not just lean on the others' misgivings. She projects hope and honor instead of shame, creating a spiritual kinship and empathy to her readers both in her poetry book, "The Journey Towards Hope," and her autobiographies.
