networking technology can transform how the world manages its environmental concerns. Information technology,
while a contributor of greenhouse gas emissions, has a larger role to play
in mitigating the impact of other sectors as well as helping people and
organizations reduce their environmental footprint.
- Cisco's environmental programs focus on innovations to network
architecture, environmentally-conscious product design and supply chains,
and sustainable company operations. As a company, Cisco aims to reduce its absolute
greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent by calendar year 2012 based on its
calendar year 2007 baseline emissions.
- Sustainable practices are good business practices. Cisco
TelePresence has more than 100 customers globally helping to reduce air
travel and GHG emissions. By reducing carbon emissions, waste production,
and natural resource demand in FY09, Cisco's Global
Supply Chain Management realized more than $3 million in annual cost
savings through manufacturing efficiency.
