PONSSE PLC TO CONTINUE IMPROVING PROFITABILITY AND ADJUSTING ITS OPERATIONS 

Ponsse Plc will adjust its production and other operations to meet market
demand. In order to safeguard its competitiveness and profitability, the
company will initiate employer-employee negotiations on dismissals and
temporary lay-offs. The need for personnel cutback is estimated to be 200 at
most in Finland and 320 at most in the entire group. Furthermore, the need for
temporary lay-offs will probably continue throughout 2009. The negotiations
will concern all operations and personnel groups, in Finland altogether 260
clerical workers and 400 workers. The total amount of personnel in the Ponsse
group is 1050. 

The effects on personnel of these adjustment measures will be specified in the
various units, countries and operations as soon as the employer-employee
negotiations have been completed. The negotiations will take place according to
the local legislation in each country.
