American Specialty Health Leadership Recognized With Web Awards

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 9, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Specialty Health (ASH), a leading national health improvement organization, recently received two eHealthcare Leadership Awards and one World Wide Web Health Award for its Healthyroads.com and FitnessCoach.com Web sites. The awards highlight ASH's commitment to the creation of progressive health improvement Web sites for its health plan and employer group members, as well as health-conscious consumers.

Healthyroads.com won a platinum eHealthcare Leadership Award in the category of Best Overall Internet Site. Healthyroads, ASH's wellness subsidiary, lets program members use the interactive site to learn more about nutrition, exercise, tobacco cessation, and healthy living. ASH also received a Gold award in the same category for FitnessCoach.com, its public Web site dedicated to improving user fitness and overall health.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards recognize the very best Web sites of health care providers, health plans, health care associations, online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, suppliers, other health care organizations, and business improvement initiatives. These awards highlight the Internet's role in achieving an organization's business objectives and recognize the hard work that has gone into creating outstanding health Web sites.

ASH's Healthyroads.com site also received a Bronze World Wide Web Health Award in the Health Promotion category. The World Wide Web Health Awards recognize the best Web-based health-related content for consumers and professionals. Entries are based on accuracy, success in reaching the targeted audience, and overall quality.

"We put tremendous effort into creating best-in-class Web sites to help our members improve their health, so we are extremely pleased to be honored with these awards," said ASH CEO and chairman George DeVries. "Being recognized in this way reaffirms our mission, which is to empower individuals to live healthier and longer."
