ELEKTA'S HEAD OF REGION ASIA DEAD IN PLANE CRASH

Yesterday, Sunday December 14, Elekta received the tragic news that Gerrit
(Gerry) van Oortmarssen, head of Business Region Asia and member of the
company's Executive Committee, has died in a plane crash in Austria.

Gerry van Oortmarssen was 65 years old. He was employed in Elekta in 1997. Over
the years, he held several leading positions in the Elekta Group.

The responsibility for Business Region Asia is temporarily assumed by Tomas
Puusepp, President & CEO of Elekta.
