Coordinate Metrology Society Announces 'Call for Papers' for Their 25th Annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference 2009

ISSAQUAH, Wash., Dec. 17, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Coordinate Metrology Society, the eminent membership association for measurement professionals, today announced their "Call for Papers" for the 25th Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC). The annual event will be held in Louisville, KY from July 20-24, 2009. Metrology users from leading manufacturers and science laboratories are invited to submit abstracts for white papers illustrating their successful application of 3D coordinate measurement systems. Submissions will be reviewed by the Coordinate Metrology Society and considered for presentation at CMSC 2009. The deadline for abstracts is April 10, 2009. Notification of acceptance will occur on April 24, 2009. For guidelines or more information about presenting a white paper at CMSC 2009 see Presenters on the CMSC web site, www.cmsc.org or contact Scott Sandwith, Technical Presentations Coordinator at presentations@cmsc.org.

In 2008, a full three days of high-level white papers were delivered by industry leaders from United Space Alliance, Fermilab, Spirit AeroSystems, Smithsonian Institution, The Royal Institute of Technology, The Boeing Company, Richard Childress Racing, General Motors, University of Michigan, SNC Lavalin Nuclear, Lockheed Martin, Hitachi Engineering, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and other professionals in the field of metrology. The CMSC is the only North American conference dedicated solely to users of portable, high-precision measurement technology used to inspect manufactured and assembled components on the factory floor. Each year, the CMSC community convenes to gather information and attend white paper presentations delivered by their peers.

Many topics, applications, and industry best practices were presented at CMSC 2008 from 3D scanning in the Gobi desert, to the precision alignment of the Advanced EHF Spacecraft Payload Wings, to nuclear power plant refurbishment, to revitalizing the Space Shuttle's Thermal Protection system, to the use of 3D metrology in the automotive development process.

CMSC is attended by users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance, portable industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. Conference attendees hail from prominent science/research laboratories, and diverse industries such as aerospace, space hardware, antenna, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and general engineering.

About the CMSC Society

CMSC is a society of users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. The metrology systems utilized by industry and represented at the CMSC conference include laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radars, photogrammetry/videogrammetry systems, scanners, and indoor GPS. The CMSC society gathers each year to gain knowledge of the advancements and applications of any measurement system or software solution that produces and uses 3D coordinate data. For more information on CMSC and how to join the organization, visit their web site at http://www.cmsc.org.

About the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference
