City National Bank Donates Over $5,000 in Monetary and Volunteer Support During Holiday Season

Bank Colleagues Donate Food and Services to Help Needy Families and Mentally Challenged

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 23, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank today announced that it is spreading some much needed holiday cheer to a number of nonprofit organizations throughout Nevada. The bank and its colleagues are donating more than $5,000 in monetary and volunteer support to a variety of nonprofit groups to help the homeless, mentally challenged and needy families.

The bank selected several nonprofit organizations in Las Vegas, Carson City and Minden/Gardnerville to receive holiday donations. The nonprofit groups receiving monetary support include the following:

 * HELP of Southern Nevada - Las Vegas
 * Olive Crest - Las Vegas
 * Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada - Carson City
 * Carson Valley Community Food Closet - Minden/Gardnerville

Bank colleagues and clients have also been collecting nonperishable food items for homeless individuals and needy families in a number of markets it serves. The bank has been working with the following nonprofit groups to help alleviate hunger during the holiday season:

 * Las Vegas Rescue Mission
 * F.I.S.H. (Friends In Helping Service) - Carson City
 * Carson Valley Community Food Closet - Minden/Gardnerville

"The holiday assistance we're providing this year to various nonprofit groups has taken on new meaning and greater significance given the challenging times facing a growing segment of our population," said John Guedry, executive vice president and Nevada region manager of City National Bank. "We feel very fortunate to be a part of one of the most safe and sound banks in the country that has the ability to provide some much needed help to organizations and people who need some assistance at this special time of year."

Guedry added that the bank is most proud of the volunteer support its colleagues are providing once again this year to those in need through both individual time and personal donations. This is the eighth consecutive year that bank colleagues have donated time to help staff the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village in southern Nevada and have collected food items for the less fortunate statewide.

"Caring companies like City National Bank have made it possible for us to turn a part of Las Vegas into a magical winter wonderland the past 17 years," said Linda Smith, chief development officer for Opportunity Village. "The magical forest is our primary fundraising event each year and without the generous support of our wonderful corporate sponsors we would not be able to service the growing needs of the mentally challenged in southern Nevada."

Opportunity Village is just one of several charitable endeavors that City National and its colleagues are supporting this holiday season through volunteer outreach. Bank colleagues routinely donate several hours a month to a number of philanthropic and community related programs. Bank officers serve on at least one nonprofit board while bank colleagues volunteer time during the work day to read, tutor and mentor students at a number of at-risk schools throughout Nevada.

"City National Bank has been one of our strongest community partners for many years and we appreciate the support they give us both in monetary and volunteer support," said Hal Hansen, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada. "City National's Lori Haney has served on our board for a number of years and epitomizes the bank's commitment to community outreach."

The bank contributes financial, in-kind and volunteer assistance to nonprofit institutions and organizations that enhance the quality of life and promote public interest where the company conducts its business. The four main areas of the bank's philanthropic outreach include education, health and human services, community development, and arts and culture.
