Entropic Communications to Demonstrate DLNA-Enabled Products With MoCA Networking At 2009 International CES

c.LINK MoCA Solutions and DLNA Combine to Deliver Enhanced Home Networking Experience

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon solutions to enable connected home entertainment, announced today that it would be showcasing Digital Living Network Alliance or DLNA-enabled products as part of its live Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(r)) home networking demonstration at the 2009 International CES this week in Las Vegas.

Seamless Networking

In December 2008, DLNA announced that MoCA would join Wi-Fi and Ethernet as the only LAN technology standards approved for inclusion in the DLNA Interoperability Guidelines. The combination of a MoCA home network with DLNA-enabled products assures that multimedia content like video, pictures and music can easily be found and played back by other devices in the network.

MoCA enables a high speed, highly reliable whole home entertainment network that can support multiple streams of HD video simultaneously by using the existing coax cables in the home. DLNA-enabled devices can leverage the MoCA network to seamlessly connect to one another and allow content to be shared from room to room. For example, HD video stored on a DLNA PC or network storage device in one room can now easily be found and played back by a DLNA-enabled game console, media adaptor or TV in another room.

DLNA guidelines are recognized throughout the consumer electronics industry for successfully uniting various consumer electronics, computer and mobile device technologies and standards into a cohesive home networking environment. These latest guidelines serve to simplify the user experience for consumer installed devices using MoCA networks and can be used by service operators to ensure interoperability with their MoCA-enabled products.

Entropic, the market leader in MoCA technology already deployed in millions of homes, has solutions available today to support DLNA and enhance the usability of home networks for operators and consumers.
