When a Dream Becomes a Nightmare -- New Book Tells the Story of a Victim of Plagiarism

HONOLULU, Jan. 13, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American writer Dorothy Parker once said that the only '-ism' Hollywood believes in is plagiarism. Plagiarism, or the presentation of an idea or a group of ideas as one's own, is a common case in the movie industry. Punishable by law, a perpetrator avoids prosecution by picking a naive as his most likely target. What will such a young victim do if a despicable man of influence steals her biggest dream of becoming a screenwriter? Experience a suspenseful murder mystery as author Sherry M. Bryant presents a great crime fiction, Rachel's Run.

Aspiring to be a screenwriter, twenty-one-year-old Rachel Winslow submits her first manuscript. When Hollywood turns her down she decides to give up on her dream. And move on...

Three years later, she recognizes practically every scene of her story come to life on the movie screen. Furious, she goes to Hollywood to confront award-winning screenwriter Abel Caprio, the man she blames for plagiarizing her work. Things immediately go wrong when she arrives in Los Angeles; a young man named Jimmy comes to her rescue and takes her in. Rachel suspects that Jimmy, who happens to be a writer as well, has a special relationship with Abel, but immediately shrugs it off.

Things heat up when she steps on Caprio's territory. She realizes that she is not Caprio's sole victim, that he has appropriated scripts of other hopefuls who have been in his writing classes without their knowledge. Rachel's persistence in finding a way to claim what is rightfully hers leads her to witness a gruesome murder of another aspirant. Hopeful that she can use the knowledge to get Abel to do right by her, she chooses not to report the incident.

Her problems amount when she comes home one day and finds Jimmy's lifeless body bathed in his own blood. Abel shows up unexpectedly and thinks she did it. And the chase is on. Now with Abel after her, will Rachel's dreams come to a screeching halt? Follow her exploits as she flees impending danger in the claws of Hollywood's greatest pirate.
