Cowell will be responsible for developing business strategies for the small business, retail and private banking segments. She will also lead marketing, public relations, product and delivery channel management, sales and service in all Whitney markets throughout the Gulf Coast. Cowell will report to Whitney President, John M. Turner, Jr.

Cowell is a seasoned executive in the financial services industry with 28 years of experience, most recently with Wachovia Corporation heading up de novo execution. She has also lead sales and service execution, deposit and access services, retail support and performance analytics over the past 11 years at Wachovia. Cowell held management positions at Bank South, worked in financial analysis and reporting with C & S Bank and holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Kentucky.
