Let These Poems Touch Your Heart -- New Book is a Poetry Collection That Talks About Life Through Different Phases: the Romantic, the Spiritual, Nature and the African American Community

PRENTISS, Miss., Jan. 15, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Literature enthusiasts and poetry fans on the lookout for a new style of modern creative writing are in for an engaging experience from author I. Vincent Ball as Xlibris releases his new book The Ivory Starr Collection: VOLUME 1: A New Day's Dawn.

The text is a compilation of a lifetime of work that, when read closely, can help you feel the maturation pulse as year after year brought both experience and knowledge of the creative writing process to the fore. Its poems, which cover a whole gamut of topics from the romantic to the spiritual, illuminate the maturity of the human spirit, and at the same time it also follows the exploits people tend to make in their lifetimes. Interestingly, even though the African American community is filled with "positives" to pull from, the author focused on the negatives: slavery, drugs and violence, and fatherless homes. Ball's writings illustrate the pit where we've come from in order to put a spotlight on where we've chosen to be, and they serve as a wake up call for the youth who believe that mankind has come of age and has nothing more to prove. This collection will warm your heart and give you opportunities to reflect about your life and the community that you are a part of.

The Ivory Starr Collection: VOLUME 1: A New Day's Dawn will be featured in the 2009 American Library Association Annual National Book Exhibit at Chicago, IL on July 11-14, 2009.

About the Author

Raised on a farm in southern Mississippi, Ivory Vincent Ball learned to appreciate the beauty of nature from a firsthand view. Whether an early morning sunrise or the ever-changing seasons, he loved the deep, vivid colors and the fresh, clean smell after a spring shower. Having a grandfather who was a Baptist minister, he understands the role God plays in our everyday lives. Although he has a mathematics background -- once wanting to teach the art of problem solving to the next generation -- his passion has long been writing. Having visited several countries, and lived in numerous states from New York to California, you could call him a wanderer. It is this wanderlust that has fueled his imagination - allowing him to write from the perspective of someone who has explored the world.
