The Helsinki Court of Appeal's decision on Sampo Bank's payment demand

In a ruling issued on 19 January 2009, the Helsinki Court of Appeal has ordered
Sponda Plc to pay interest totalling EUR 7.6 million, and penal interest and
court cost to Sampo Bank Plc based on a credit agreement. The decision is final
unless appeal has been made by 20 March 2009.

The amount of Sampo Bank's suit for payment, EUR 7.6 million, was recognized as
an expense under provisions in the 2006 financial statements and thus the
decision has no impact on Sponda's result. EUR 0.6 million was recognized as an
interest expense under provisions in 2007 and EUR 0.1 million in 2008, so the
total provision is EUR 8.3 million on 31 December 2008.

Sponda has previously reported on the matter on 31 March 2005, on 6 June 2005
and on 11 January 2007.
