TERVEYSTALO HEALTHCARE OYJ STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE January 19, 2009 at 9.36 a.m. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION ON TERVEYSTALO HEALTHCARE´S 2008 RESULT AND FUTURE OUTLOOK In connection with the public tender offer by Star Healthcare Oy, Terveystalo Healthcare Oyj publishes preliminary information regarding its turnover during the last quarter of 2008 which has continued to grow in accordance with expectations. Based on the October and November 2008 performance, the estimated turnover for the financial year ended 31 December 2008, is expected to exceed EUR 207 million. Terveystalo´s operating profit, based on the October and November performance, has also continued to develop positively during the last quarter of 2008 in line with the trend achieved previously during 2008, and is estimated to be in the range of EUR 7,0 - 8,5 million for the financial year ended 31 December 2008. This operating profit estimate does not include any potential effects from IAS 36 impairment tests or other exceptional items. The most significant changes in Terveystalo´s balance sheet during the three-month period ended 31 December 2008 relate to loan installments of approximately EUR 20 million, indicating an estimated cash equivalent of approximately EUR 5 million at the end of the three-month period ended 31 December 2008, as compared to EUR 17 million at the end of the three-month period ended 30 September 2008. In the fall of 2007, Terveystalo launched an integration program to improve its operational efficiency and profitability. The program was, as disclosed in the interim report published on 13 November 2008, expected to reach annual synergy benefits of EUR 3-5 million. The benefits are expected to have full effect during 2009. As disclosed previously, Terveystalo will continue striving to grow faster than the average market growth in the Finnish private healthcare sector. The profitability target is to reach an operating profit level of over 10 per cent towards the end of the strategy period 2008-2011.
