Canyon Acres Announces Success of 2008 Holiday Campaign

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., Jan. 21, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced the success of its 2008 Holiday Campaign. The agency wishes to thank its generous community supporters for making 2008 such a special year for children in need.

"2008 was an especially challenging year for many children and their families, and Canyon Acres is extremely grateful to donors who were willing to step in and help make a difference," said Clete Menke, President of Canyon Acres. "The 2008 Holiday Campaign will help us continue to provide the safety, comfort and hope our children deserve."

Collecting more than $15,000 in gift cards along with hundreds of unwrapped gifts for children, donations will support ongoing programs such as Wraparound, Foster Care and Creating Family Connections. Thanks to its supporters, Canyon Acres was able to make the holidays brighter for more than 250 children and families.

Among those touched by the campaign was the widow mother of five- and 14-year-old boys who was going through very hard times this past Christmas. Struggling in the emotional and financial void created by the loss of her husband, she worried she would not be able to provide anything for her boys on Christmas morning. Via the generous donations in Canyon Acres' gift drive, agency representatives were able to arrive at the mother's house in time for Christmas with a turkey, a box of food and a bag of unwrapped gifts for her children. With tears in her eyes, the mother expressed gratitude that her boys would have a Christmas after all.

In addition to many individual and corporate donors, Canyon Acres extends very special thanks to Disneyland Resort Public Affairs, Mile Two Church of Cypress, Allianz Global Investors of America, LLP, Yokohama Tire Corporation and SA Recycling, all who went the "extra mile" for our children this past holiday season.
