U.S. Army Selects Northrop Grumman for Biometrics Operations and Support Services Contract


MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 27, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) is one of 12 companies selected for the Biometrics Operations and Support Services Unrestricted (BOSS-U) contract by the U.S. Army. BOSS-U provides a range of technical services and solutions to fulfill the Army's Biometrics Task Force's biometrics services needs.

The BOSS-U program is an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a maximum ceiling value of $497 million available for task order awards. Work on the contract will be conducted over a three-year base period and two one-year option periods.

Under the terms of the contract, Northrop Grumman will compete for task orders to provide biometrics services, technical and management expertise, and solution-related enabling products in one or more of six functional categories. The functional categories include: management support services; infrastructure procurement, design, development, implementation, and integration; operations and maintenance; studies and analysis; advanced technology analysis and demonstration; and test and evaluation.

Support on the task orders will be performed throughout the United States, and in any country where the Defense Department has a presence.

Northrop Grumman's enterprise biometric and identity management experience includes the Automated Biometric Identification System, the next generation authoritative multi-modal biometric repository for the Defense Department; and the Biometric Identification System for Access, which supports base access control in the Defense Department theatre of operation. Northrop Grumman also provides IDENT1, the world's largest scene-of-crime biometric repository system for the United Kingdom's National Policing Improvement Agency supporting 57 police forces and agencies.
