Lysaker, 28 January 2009 Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE): Smaller price differences between the Nordic elspot areas The electricity price in Middle- and Northern Norway (NO2) dropped more than in Southern-Norway (NO1), and the price difference between these two areas decreased from week 3 to 4. In a little more than 75 percent of the hours last week it was equal price in NO1 and NO2. The average price of week 4 was NOK/kWh 0.348 in Southern-Norway and NOK/kWh 0.35 Middle- and Northern-Norway. There was also a downfall in the Danish power prices. This resulted in a difference between the highest and lowest price in the Nordic area of NOK/kWh 0.004. Lower consumption caused by milder weather and less exports of electricity to the continent have contributed to more equal prices in the Nordic area.
