For the summer season, Finnair will open a route to Bergen, Norway, starting 22 May. The company will fly to Bergen daily, except on Wednesdays and Sundays. “The main reason for the opening of a new summer route to Bergen is high tourism demand from Asia, particularly from Japan, directed at Norway's renowned fjord area. There is also interest in the new route from America and the southern European countries,” says Finnair's Vice President Route Strategy and Traffic Planning Petteri Kostermaa. For Finns, too, the new route offers a fast and convenient way of reaching Norway's number one tourist destination. Bergen is Norway's second biggest city and a busy trading port. The seafront warehouses of Bergen's old town as well as its fish restaurants and cafés are easy to tour on foot. Outside Bergen, there's lots to see and experience: you can hop on to a Hurtigruten cruise ship to see the magnificent fjords or visit the other sights of western Norway near by Bergen, for example Alesund to the north, Haugesund and Stavanger in the south, or head east from Bergen to Geilo and the mountain areas. Finnair also flies to Oslo five times a day on weekdays and three times a day at the weekend.
