The Dutch 'Autoriteit Financiele Markten' AFM has informed SMARTRAC on
January 26, 2009 as follows:

Fortis Investment Management Netherlands N.V. has informed the AFM on
January 1, 2009, that the voting rights of Fortis Investment Management
Netherlands N.V. in SMARTRAC N.V., ISIN: NL0000186633, WKN: A0JEHN, have
exceeded the threshold of 10 percent. Fortis Investment Management
Netherlands N.V. currently holds 10.51 percent of the voting rights in
SMARTRAC N.V. (this corresponds to 1,418,947 voting rights). Due to the
holding in Fortis Investment Management Netherlands N.V., Fortis OBAM N.V.,
informed the AFM, also on January 1, 2009, that the voting rights of have
fallen below the threshold of 5 percent. Fortis OBAM N.V. holds no (0.00
percent) voting rights in SMARTRAC N.V. (this corresponds to 0 voting
rights).
