Northrop Grumman Wins IT Services Work for Federal Aviation Administration


MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 2, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a contract by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for business process management consulting and information technology services that provide critical certification and clearance status information for 700,000 pilots and air traffic controllers.

Northrop Grumman's Information Systems (IS) sector will provide these services and the e.POWER(r) software for the Document Imaging and Workflow System (DIWS) application. DIWS electronically processes 450,000 medical applications for pilots and air traffic controllers each year. e.POWER(r) is Northrop Grumman's commercial-off-the shelf software platform for business process management and automation combining workflow, document and records management, electronic forms, application integration and process metrics.

Northrop Grumman was awarded the original contract in 1997. This follow-on contract is valued at $9.4 million for one base year with three, one-year options. Work on the contract will be performed in Chantilly, Va. and Oklahoma City.
