Barstow Community Recognizes Volunteer Efforts of Local Northrop Grumman Employees


BARSTOW, Calif., Feb. 13, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Mark Sielski was awarded the "Up & Coming Volunteer of the Year" by the Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. Sielski is a database administrator for Northrop Grumman Technical Services' National Training Center Fort Irwin Logistics Support Services contract. He was recognized for his work in managing Holiday Meals, an organization that helps feed elderly and needy Barstow area residents during the holiday season. Sielski also helped raise money for Toys for Tots and the American Cancer Society through the Northrop Grumman Charities Committee.

"To receive this award is very humbling," said Sieski. "This is where I grew up, this is the community that helped raise me and I'm so proud that my co-workers and I are able to give back."

Along with Sielski, other Northrop Grumman employees received nominations for their volunteer work in the community. Cathy Solis, a logistics analyst, and Steve Richardson, a human resources generalist, were also nominated in the "Up & Coming Volunteer" category. The Northrop Grumman Employee Charities Committee was also nominated for the "Organization of the Year" award.
