JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 5, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Stein Mart, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMRT) today reported total sales and comparable store sales for the fiscal period ended February 28, 2009.

During February, the best performing businesses were ladies' casual sportswear and dresses. The most difficult businesses were ladies' career sportswear and gifts. Sales trends were better in Texas and the Mid-South, and weakest in the Southeast.
At February 28, 2009, there were 276 stores in operation as compared to 280 at the same time last year.
2008 Financial Results and Conference Call
