LINTHICUM, Md., March 9, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has promoted Patrick M. Antkowiak to vice president of strategy and capability for its Electronic Systems sector's engineering, manufacturing and logistics organization, effective immediately.

In his new position, Antkowiak will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy and discriminating capability for the Electronic Systems sector's engineering, manufacturing and logistics organization through product ownership coordination including product roadmap development, technology insertion and pre-planned product improvements, and effective liaison with the company's business development and division business areas. In addition, Antkowiak will be responsible for assuring an integrated automation environment and organizational efficiencies to support the product strategy.

Antkowiak joined the company in 1981 and has held a variety of positions in engineering, program management and product development. In 1992, he was named engineering manager and product development team leader for the Comanche helicopter mission computer program. He later was named program manager for Space-Based Radar (SBR) and space technology development programs. In 2002, he was appointed program director for SBR and proprietary programs, and two years later was named director of advanced space development programs.

Most recently, he served as director of space systems in the company's Advanced Concepts & Technologies Division, where he was responsible for the development of a wide portfolio of radio frequency and electro-optical space sensor technologies for future U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence programs.

Antkowiak earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a master's degree in computer engineering from the University of Maryland. He has also completed the General Manager's Program at Harvard University.
