SPRINGDALE, Ark., March 12, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:AERT) ("AERT"), a leading plastics recycler and manufacturer of Green composite building products, announced today that at approximately 7:30 a.m. CDT a small fire occurred in the wood recycling facility at AERT. The fire resulted in the ignition of dust in the pipes leading to the dust control bag house. Automatic suppression equipment activated, but the fire ignited dust in the dust collector resulting in an audible explosion. The Springdale fire department was called at 7:40 a.m. and responded quickly. No one was injured. Minor damage to the dust collector occurred. The fire initiated in a hammer mill and appears to be caused by metal in the incoming waste wood feedstock. The fire did not affect production at the plant.
