DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - March 25, 2009) - Alliance for Sustainable Colorado's Alliance
Center has received a new solar photovoltaic array through Namasté Solar's
innovative grant program. The Alliance Center has already earned EPA Energy
Star Leader status and two LEED certifications. The addition of the solar
system further enhances the Alliance's ability to educate building
professionals and individuals about energy-wise building practices. The
Alliance Center, which houses 30 nonprofit organizations in Denver,
Colorado, is committed to furthering sustainability, green building, and
renewable energy.
"We're excited and honored to be the recipient of the solar array," said
Joanne Keys, Executive Director of Alliance for Sustainable Colorado.
"Installing this photovoltaic system aids us in achieving our goal of
fostering a more sustainable Colorado in several ways. Not only do we
improve the energy practices of the Alliance Center, we provide a
demonstration model for others through our educational 'green' building
tours."
"By supporting the Alliance, Namasté Solar is supporting all of our
nonprofit tenants in the Alliance Center," said Keys.
The Namasté Solar full grant program donated a 2.04 kW photovoltaic system
with Sharp 170 solar panels that convert sunlight directly into electricity
and produce 2,867 kWh per year. The value of Namasté Solar's grant is
$11,220.
The positive environmental impact of the solar array is noteworthy. The
carbon emission reduction is 5,871 lbs per year, which is equivalent to
planting 226 trees a year, or driving a car 6,422 fewer miles per year.
"Namasté Solar awarded the full grant to the Alliance for Sustainable
Colorado because of its extensive work in support of sustainability and
renewable energy," said Heather Leanne Nangle, Namasté Solar Co-owner and
Director of Marketing & Communications. "The Alliance Center's solar array
serves as a positive example for other businesses, nonprofits, and
individuals in Colorado who are considering a move to renewable energy."
