Grow Your Green With Tech CU's Online Savings Challenge

Technology Credit Union Makes Saving Fun and Achievable With a Year-Long Campaign That Will Award One Lucky Saver $1,000!

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - April 1, 2009) - Now more than ever, Americans are looking for support with managing their personal finances. That's why Tech CU has launched a new campaign that features an online community aimed at supporting and encouraging individuals who want to set and achieve a savings goal for themselves or their family in 2009. The campaign -- Grow Your Green -- The Great Savings Challenge -- was launched last week at www.growyourgreencampaign.com.

To participate, individuals simply sign up for the Tech CU Savings Challenge account by calling (800) 553-0880 or visiting the nearest Tech CU financial center. Tech CU members who are enrolled in Online Banking can easily sign up online. Individuals who are not currently a member can easily join the credit union at any one of Tech CU's 10 financial centers throughout the Bay Area or by calling (800) 553-0880. Anyone who works, lives, goes to school or regularly worship in Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Cruz, San Mateo and San Francisco counties are eligible to join Tech CU.

"We've heard from members that they're focusing more on saving this year but need help and education," said Kathleen Litman, Vice President of Marketing for Tech CU. "What's unique about this campaign is that most of the activity takes place on our Grow Your Green blog, which has been designed to encourage comments from, and interaction between, the participants who are saving towards a particular goal."

The site's main page will feature frequently changing content and will also showcase videos that participants have created. Litman went on to say that Grow Your Green was partly inspired by a similar campaign run by Members Credit Union in North Carolina.

To further encourage individuals to save on a regular basis, Tech CU is giving away a cash prize of $100 each month to an active Tech CU Saver. To participate, members who have registered a valid email address at www.growyourgreencampaign.com and save at least $25 in their Tech CU Savings Challenge Account for that month will be automatically entered into the drawing. For rules and details, go to www.growyourgreencampaign.com/rules.

For a grand finale in November, Tech CU will invite all Grow Your Green savers and participants to nominate a 2009 Super Saver -- someone who has been consistently saving and supporting other savers in the online community -- with Tech CU selecting the winner on December 15 from the top finalists. The winner will receive $1,000 towards their savings goal.
