Achema 2009: Larox Presents A Broad Solid-Liquid Separation Product Portfolio

As a technology leader focused 100% on solid-liquid separation, Larox
continuously develops and brings to market high-quality industrial filters,
filtration solutions and aftermarket services. At Achema 2009, Larox presents
the company's entire product portfolio.

“Today, technological progress in the chemical process industries is extremely
rapid. This is particularly true for example in the food, pharmaceutical and
biotechnology industries,” says Mr. Reiner Weidner, Vice President for Larox
Corporation.

“Our objective is to help our customers succeed in this challenging business
environment. Combining Larox's technical know-how with our customers' chemical
expertise can lead to major cost-savings and better process performance, both
from the yield and environmental point of view,” he continues.

Larox works in close cooperation with chemical process industries worldwide,
and as a result has gained a solid reputation as a reliable and trustful
partner. “At Larox, we have understood the meaning of confidentiality and
trust,” Mr. Weidner says, “These values, as well as innovativeness,
are rooted in ourcompany culture.”

Larox Filter Highlights at Achema

Larox Automatic Pressure Filters
Larox pressure filtration has earned a reputation for performance, reliability
and low operating costs.

The Larox C Series, designed with the needs of the chemical industry in mind,
are built to last, and deliver maximum production performance and availability
to a wide range of applications. They produce extremely dry solids, thus
eliminating or dramatically reducing the need for thermal drying.

Larox DS is a totally enclosed design incorporating all polypropylene plates
with membranes on both sides of the chamber. The filter can be designed for
inert operation with a nitrogen blanket for solvent-wetted processes or
processes requiring a non-oxidizing atmosphere. Cleaning-in-place is a standard
feature to meet the most demanding standards of hygiene.

Pannevis RT Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filter
The Pannevis RT horizontal vacuum belt filter from Larox is a unique design
that offers true multi-step processing for a wide range of products. The heart
of the Pannevis RT filter is a continuously moving filter cloth that does not
require a rubber support belt. Instead an open grid located in a profiled tray
running the length of the filter supports the filter cloth. The RT filter can
be designed with any or all of the following functionalities: discrete multiple
wash steps, either co-current or countercurrent, vibration, hot air drying,
cooling, steaming or mechanical compression. It can also be offered with
gas-tight or pressure-tight enclosures, allowing safe operation of processes
involving solvents, explosives, hazardous materials, or any processes where
containment is a critical factor.

Pannevis GT Filter
The Pannevis GT gas-tight filter is a completely enclosed design that can
continuously process virtually any solvent based product in a sealed housing,
while operating under a continuously re-circulated nitrogen or other inert gas
blanket. The filter housing is designed to easily meet cGMP (current Good
Manufacturing Practice) making it especially suitable for pharmaceuticals,
biotech and food grade products. Gas tight filters are currently used for many
pharmaceuticals, both intermediate and final, as well as fine chemicals,
bio-products, solvent-processed foodstuffs, solvent wetted organic solids, and
pyrophoric materials. With over 120 production scale units installed worldwide,
Larox is the world leader in solvent-based vacuum belt filtration with
the Pannevis GT filter.

Ceramec Capillary Action Disc Filters
The Ceramec filters are widely used to dewater mineral concentrates and
pelletising feed slurries. Micro porous ceramic discs replace conventional
filter cloth. Capillary action holds liquid in the pores, thus prevents air
leakage and requires only a very small vacuum pump which significantly reduces
energy consumption. The available range of Ceramec filters covers differing
process sizes and throughput requirements. Filtering capacity can reach as high
as 100 tons an hour per unit. Availability is higher and power consumption
is lower, compared to conventional vacuum filters, resulting in a greater
productivity.

Hoesch Membrane Filter Press
The Hoesch membrane filter presses can be supplied for a wide range of
applications in the chemical process industries. These applications range from
simple dewatering of effluents to multiple washing of pharmaceuticals under
hygienic conditions and many applications in between where food based and
corrosive processes are areas of specialization. All Hoesch membrane filter
presses are capable of operating with partially filled chambers, while
maintaining pressure on the cake to produce the desired dry solids content.
Hoesch membrane filter presses are available in both side bar and overhead
beam execution.

Hoesch FFP
The FFP (fast opening) series membrane filter press combines the existing
benefits of membrane technology and side bar design with improved mechanical
and process performance. By introducing the fast opening system combined with
automatic cake discharge, the specific filtration capacity is enhanced to the
optimum for vertical plate filter presses. The unique design of the filter
plates increases the process performance, especially the effect of the air
blowing. These result in both lower residual moistures and reduced wear and
tear. Further enhancement of process consistency is realized by the cloth
flushing after each cake
discharge.

Scheibler Polishing Filters
Scheibler polishing filters remove and recover solids in low concentrations
from process liquids. Based on the principal of adsorption filtration, the
quality of the filtrate increases production capacity and the quality of end
products. Constructed with an advanced filter design, Scheibler polishing
filters cost-effectively reduce suspended solids to extremely low levels of
parts per million (ppm).
