Universal Detection Technology Announces GSA Contract Award for Bioterrorism Detection and Radiological Detection Equipment

UNDT's Federal GSA Contract Includes BSM-2000 Anthrax Monitor and Other WMD Detection Equipment and Will be Managed by The Winvale Group

LOS ANGELES, April 8, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB:UNDT), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that its products have been approved by the General Services Administration (GSA) to be included on its Multiple Awards Schedule program to 2013.

Under this contract, federal, state, and local government agencies that have access to the GSA Schedule Contract program can contract directly with UNDT for all of their detection needs. Universal Detection's products are listed on GSA Schedule GS-07F-0106V for equipment used in the detection of biological weapons such as anthrax, ricin, botulinum, and plague as well as Radiation Detection Equipment.

According to Jacques Tizabi, President of Universal Detection Technology, "UNDT is planning an aggressive marketing campaign to promote its counter-bioterrorism initiatives to all relevant government agencies to ensure that all first responders are properly equipped in the event of a biological crisis and we are pleased to be working together with The Winvale Group." The company is also marketing its line of Radiation Detection Equipment.

To be an approved supplier under a GSA schedule, the vendor must go through an arduous application process. Negotiating fair and reasonable prices for the products or services to be delivered is the most important aspect of application process. The GSA schedule is one of the most simplified and widely accepted government contract vehicles available to procurement officers. GSA schedule is a five-year contract listing the prices the federal government has agreed to pay for a vendor's commercial products and services. The contract may be renewed for three five-year periods resulting in a 20-year contract if all renewals are executed.

The products available from Universal Detection Technology on the GSA Schedule include:

BSM-2000 Airborne Anthrax Detection System

Anthrax Detection Kits (Handheld)

Ricin Detection Kits (Handheld)

Botulinum Detection Kits (Handheld)

Plague Detection Kits (Handheld)

Personal Radiation Detector

Gamma Neutron Detection and Search Instrument

Some other Security firms working with Winvale include, Northrop Grumman, ICX, and Rapiscan.
