Going the Distance -- New Memoir is the Remarkable Story of a Man and the Unfolding of a Generation

COLUMBIA, S.C., April 13, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- How Far Is Forward? is not a story of racism and discrimination although these elements are present. Rather, it is the memorable account of a life and passionate involvement in the pivotal events of a generation -- including the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam conflict. See a generation and the crucial moments of history unfold from a firsthand account in Dr. George Hill's fascinating memoir, How Far Is Forward?

Born during the late 1920s, he entered a world in which the Great Depression was beginning to affect the economy. World War II was still a decade away with the banner of World War I still flying high in the memories of people. A son of the late Reverend George W. Hill and Gertrude Hill, he is Afro-American born. Later in life, he would see how discrimination produced inadequacies of opportunities among many races of people.

He has seen action in combat in WWII in the South Pacific, the Korean War, and the jungles of Vietnam. How Far Is Forward? honors the brave men of all creeds and colors who gave their lives for their country. Even now in the Middle East, a continuation of a conflict going back to the Old Testament, war is still costing people their lives and loved ones. This memoir is dedicated to these brave veterans, both men and women.

In the words of the author, he is just an expendable military man -- but one who has a remarkable story to tell.
