Larox Donates Testing Equipment to a Russian Research Institute

Thanks to the Labox testing unit, the mining and metallurgy research and
engineering institute JSC “Uralmekhanobr” will be able to better educate local
filtration specialists and offer new alternatives to current testing methods.

Larox donated a Labox, a Larox testing equipment set to the Ural Mekhanobr
engineering and researching institute. The institute is the part of the JSC
“UMMC-Holding” (UMMC), the second biggest Copper producer in Russia
after JSC “GMK Norilsk Nickel”.

The institute is situated in the city of Ekaterinburg, the heart of iron
and non-ferrous metals mining/metallurgical activity in the Ural region. The
institute is the main organization related to engineering of new projects
within the UMMC. It prepares also feasibilitystudies and carries out tests for
UMMC and other iron and non-ferrous mining companies. The core areas of the
UMMC is iron and non-ferrous metals research and engineering activities around
it for the UMMC and other regional mining companies.

The relation between UMMC and Larox go back over a decade. The UMMC specialists
have visited Larox for reference purposes, yet before this event, there has not
been deeper cooperation nor common projects between UMMC and Larox. Through the
Labox donation Larox aims at strengthening the relation with the UMMC institute
and creating foundation for further co-operation.

The initiative to donate the Labox came from Larox after a successful
cooperation between the UMMC and Larox, when Larox sold two Automatic Pressure
Filters 120/144 with auxiliaries and spare parts to Gaisky GOK. The Gaisky Gok
is the second-largest producer of copper concentrate in Russia and a mine
developer in the Russia's Orenburg region, and in addition one of the UMMC
members.

The positive attitude of the institute was valuable in completing the deal
and therefore the Labox was warmly welcomed by the institute.

Labox Test Unit

The Labox will be used for filtration tests for various slurries of mining
and metallurgical applications. It is especially useful for cases were
the amount of slurry is limited e.g. feasibility studies of deposits'
evaluations and simulations of hydrometallurgical processes.

The Labox will help the institute to put the institute's research and
engineering activity to a higher level. Before Labox there was no equipment
for getting reliable results on filtration, which could be used as a basis for
institute's engineering and researching reports.

By using the Labox, UMMC will get more familiar with the Larox Pressure Filter
technology and they will be able to educate the local specialists even
outside the institute. Many specialists from the UMMC work in close cooperation
with other Russian institutes of research and engineering and other
professionals interested in filtration.

With Labox the research at Ural Mekhanobr will give an alternative for the
current testing methods. The Labox will make the testing more professional and
increase demand for new filtration projects.

Labox Benefits:
• For mining & metallurgical, and chemical applications
• Small & portable, which requires only air to operate and small sample sizes to
  perform optimal test results
• Gives base results for pressure filtration
• Cake washing can be performed
