Refreshing New Endeavors Bring Value to BlueLinx and Their Customers

ATLANTA, April 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BlueLinx Corporation, a leading distributor of building products in North America, finds success in their first online virtual Buying Show. The show was designed to provide customers with knowledge and training in sustainability while using brand name building products. This event also marks the launch of BlueLinx' sustainability program, PureBlue, which has been in development since 2006.

"Presenting an entire Buying Show and Knowledge Forum online was a new endeavor for us and the industry as a whole. We are very pleased with the initial results," comments Shiloh Kelly, National Sustainability Lead for BlueLinx Corporation. "Customer participation and sales exceeded our expectations during the 2 day live event. This is a positive reflection for all of us in today's economy."

Customers spent an average of more than 60 minutes in the show visiting one of 40 exhibitor booths and viewing educational green conferences. Visitors came from across the United States, Canada, and Mexico to obtain product literature and sustainability workshop presentations. Aside from the resource savings from the absence of printing and booth construction, a zero carbon footprint was achieved due to no travel required to attend or host the show.

The ideology of hosting this event online compliments the spirit of BlueLinx' theme, "Riding the Green". It delivers valuable information surrounding sustainability market and building products at zero cost to retailers/dealers, builders/remodelers, and architects/specifiers. The BlueLinx Knowledge Forum resource is open to the public through June 24th, 2009 at http://events.unisfair.com/rt/bluelinx~greenforum or visit www.BlueLinxco.com and click on the show's banner ad.

"Our industry thrives on innovation, and at BlueLinx, we continue to act as an agent of change," stated George Judd, CEO of BlueLinx Corporation. "It is amazing to see how the entire supply chain is embracing this endeavor and the value they are drawing from it. We are confident the Forum provides the industry with valuable sustainability information, so that we may all drive ahead from the same road map."

This event was made possible by strong involvement from multiple key influencers across the green building market, likeminded manufacturers, and strategic partners. A complete list of participants is available at http://events.unisfair.com/rt/bluelinx~greenforum.
