HiQ engaged by world leader Mentice AB

- simulation applications of the future for doctors are being developed in
Gothenburg
Gothenburg-based medical technology company Mentice is the world leader in
simulation applications within medicine and surgical training. HiQ was
commissioned to assist Mentice with everything from project management and
method development within SCRUM to interactive training.

For more than a decade HiQ has worked on flight simulators for pilots and combat
aircraft. Today, doctors also use simulators to train in surgical techniques.

“We are developing the surgical simulators of the future and we currently have
more than 600 installations around the world. In the main, the users of our
simulation applications are surgeons requiring surgical training - either
surgeons completing their initial training or surgeons expanding their skills or
wanting to learn new methods. HiQ has been very helpful in contributing project
management expertise as well as working on refining our project portfolio. I am
looking forward to our continued good partnership,” says Christina von Dorrien,
Chief Operating Officer at Mentice AB.

A medical simulator is cheap and effective to use when doctors need to learn
advanced vascular surgery, for example.

“The value of simulator training has long been known within aviation - an area
that HiQ has engaged with right from the start. There are also substantial
training requirements in the care sector. Using simulation methods for areas
such as vascular surgery is both ethical and economically efficient. Our work
for Mentice to date has been very interesting and we hope to be able to combine
our previous experience within simulation with project management skills in the
future,” says Simona Bamerlind, key account manager of HiQ.

Among other things, HiQ has assisted Mentice with setting up a project office,
refining the project portfolio, implementing SCRUM as a project framework and
with the production of interactive training for the Mentice VIST simulator,
including certification elements.
