Meet An Older Woman Who Finds Peace and Love Late in Her Life -- New Book Emphasizes the Effect of Aging On the Mind and Soul of a Retired Television Producer Trying to Find Meaning At a Retirement Community

LAWRENCE, Kan., April 23, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- There is an old saying that "age does not matter." That can come true, especially if one comes up with the determination and energy to defy the bodily limits imposed by age. From time to time, we see older people making comebacks in sports, achieving something they often cannot do and more. These are the themes that drive an engaging story about aging and finding love late as Xlibris releases Age is Just a Number, a new book authored by Myrliss Hershey.

Age is Just a Number introduces readers to Marvela Higglesford, a seventy-four-year-old retired television producer from New York who leaves her comfortable apartment to live in a retirement community in Johnson County, Kansas. There she could be equidistant from her two sons, and easily fly to visit her daughter in London. Marvela adjusts to the wrenching change by volunteering and interviewing residents who have amazing stories to tell. Along the way, she reconciles with her ex-husband at their daughter's wedding. They reveal plans to remarry shortly before John dies of a massive stroke.

Later, Marvela's friendship with a paraplegic resident blossoms into a romance. Despite the handicap, and their age difference, they decide to marry. Could this be the right move for Marvela or could she be making a mistake? Read the book to find out.

Age is Just a Number will be featured in the 2009 Florida Library Association Regional Book Exhibit at Orlando, FL on May 6-8, 2009.
