Sweco to evaluate anti-exclusion measures on behalf of Government Offices of
Sweden

The Swedish Ministry of Integration and Gender Equality's has commissioned an
evaluation of its initiatives to combat exclusion in municipalities and urban
districts where this problem is particularly acute. The contract has gone to
Sweco's specialists at analysis and evaluation.

Some 20 Swedish municipalities, from Luleå in the north to Malmö in the south,
have signed a collaborative agreement with the central government to create
better living conditions in urban districts where exclusion is widespread.
Sweco will evaluate how this work has been conducted, what problems have been
identified, which participants have been involved and how well the processes are
working. The objective is for Sweco's documentation to provide a platform for
the Government's ongoing urban policy agenda.

“Today Sweco is very active in planning and development of sustainable cities
and this particular project gives us a clear social perspective that will be
useful in many of our other assignments around the world,” says Eva Nygren,
President of Sweco Sweden.

In the project, Sweco will test new evaluation methods in which the urban
districts will take active part in the evaluation process and evaluate each
other's efforts.
The contract is worth nearly EUR 75,000 and is expected to be completed in the
autumn of 2010.
