Metso supplies power boiler for green energy production in Poland

Metso Corporation's company release on May 12, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.

Metso will supply PGE Zespól Elektrowni Dolna Odra S.A. with a
biomass-fired power boiler to their combined heat and power (CHP)
plant located in Szczecin on the north-west coast of Poland. Start-up
of the boiler plant is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011. The
value of the order is approximately EUR 60 million. The order is
included in Energy and Environmental Technology's Q2 orders received.

The power boiler with the steam capacity of 183 MW will utilize
bubbling fluidized bed technology and will burn forest residue,
willow chips and straw pellets to produce electricity to the national
grid and district heat for the city of Szczecin. Metso will also
supply plant's automation and information management system.

PGE Zespól Elektrowni Dolna Odra is modernizing its Szczecin CHP
plant and will now replace old coal-fired boilers with the new unit
to combust biomass. With the new fluidized bed technology the company
will significantly increase its green energy production from
renewable fuels. By its capacity the Szczecin green energy plant will
be the largest biomass energy project in Central Europe and it has
received support from Szczecin Province Fund for Environmental
Protection and Water Management, as well as National Fund for
Environmental Protection and Water Management.

and power sector in Poland and one of the largest in Central and
