The power situation in Norway as of 13 May 2009

Lysaker, 13 May 2009

Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):
Price increase in Southern Norway

The electricity price in Southern Norway increased by 18 kroner to 269 kr/MWh from week 18, while the price in Middle- and Northern Norway fell by 1 krone to 283 kr/MWh. Increased demand due to colder weather can explain the increased price in Southern Norway, while higher import capacity from Sweden and lower demand in Northern Norway may explain the price decrease in Middle- and Northern Norway

At the end of week 19 the Norwegian reservoir level was 38.2 percent. The reservoir level increased by 2.5 percentage points during the week. The reservoir level increased in all the Norwegian elspot areas.
