Green Mountain Gringo(r) Salsa to be Featured On Fitness and Health Segment of Lifetime TV's The Balancing Act

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., May 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today's consumers are increasingly concerned about the foods they are eating. More and more, people want to know that what they are consuming and serving their families not only tastes great but is also natural and healthy. This is certainly the case for the biggest meals, but it's also true with something as simple as salsa.

That's why Green Mountain Gringo salsas are going to be featured on an upcoming "Fitness and Health" segment on The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television. The segment is set to air during the show's broadcast on Friday, May 22.

During the Balancing Act segment on May 22, Chef Donald McMillan of The Stocked Pot Cooking School will offer recipe suggestions for using Green Mountain Gringo salsa and tortilla strips to cook healthy foods like salmon, chicken salad and rice. An encore presentation of the Green Mountain Gringo segment will be shown during The Balancing Act on June 11 and again on June 30.

"The fact is, even today, some people still believe that all jarred salsas are pretty much the same," says Reg Garner, President of TW Garner Food Company, the maker of Green Mountain Gringo products. "But with the help of Chef McMillan, viewers on The Balancing Act are going to learn that, in terms of ingredients and quality, some salsas not only taste better, but are healthier, too."

"Unlike many jarred salsas, Green Mountain Gringo uses only natural, fresh ingredients," Garner added. "From a health perspective, Green Mountain Gringo salsas are allergen-free, trans-fat-free, GMO- and gluten-free, fat-free and contain no added sugar. Today's consumers want to know these things, and it makes perfect sense to tell our brand's story from a fitness and health perspective."
