“Vilniaus degtinė”, one of the largest producers of alcoholic beverages in Lithuania, continues to invest into the development of production and new technological equipment. In pursuance of its strategic goals, the company invested 2.4 million litas into the improvement of its production processes and product quality. This year, an additional sum of 0.5 million litas is earmarked for investment in subsequent modernisation stages, in order to improve processes and products. “Investment into production modernisation is part of the long-term strategy of our enterprise. We aspire to produce original high-quality drinks, using Lithuanian-grown grain and Lithuanian ethyl alcohol, made in our distillery in Obeliai - therefore, we have plans of investment into advanced technologies for each year” - says Mr. Danas Kerbelis, Director-General of “Vilniaus degtinė”. The Director noted that the company acquired platinum-filtering equipment. This way of filtering is one of the most innovative purification methods in vodka production in the entire world. The process of filtering is vital in the making of vodka. It requires not only newest high-quality equipment, but also experience of the company's specialists in order to fine-tune all the stages of production. The peculiarities of the vodka filtering process are a highly-protected secret of the enterprise, known solely to a handful of employees. Another important investment concerned modernisation of the distillation process. Not only does it make sure that the resulting ethyl alcohol corresponds to the highest EU and global requirements concerning production of beverages - the final product also has excellent sense-pleasing characteristics. Four-level distillation allows to make ethyl alcohol of extraordinary purity, while contact with copper imparts a distinctive and characteristic taste to alcohol. This ensures that consumers, apart from high quality, also get a unique taste with products of “Vilniaus degtinė”. According to the data of the market research company “AC Nielsen”, “Vilniaus degtinė” increased its share of the vodka market from 21.9% to 24.5% during the first quarter of the current year.
