About the Author

Pat Olson is addicted to kids! A passionate writer and poet whose work has been published in the San Diego Poetry Annual 2007, Pat uses her enormous energy and sense of humor in her poetry and books for children. A great example is Frumpy, The Pumpkin Who Missed Halloween. Frumpy, a forlorn wannabe jack o' lantern, came to life with Pat's child-sensitive pen. It was written in honor of her three youngest grandchildren and is dedicated to them. If you don't believe she is addicted to kids, you could ask her grandchildren - or better yet, read their reviews of Frumpy, The Pumpkin Who Missed Halloween.

Pat is a member of SCBWI (Society for Children's Books Writers and Illustrators) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library in West Los Angeles. She produces the Pat Pincus Poetry Fest each August.

In her earlier life, Pat enjoyed a successful career in advertising with Ted Bates & Company in New York, writing and producing TV commercials for Marx Toys. Pat discovered her unique ability to view the toys through the eyes of a child and now uses that insight when writing children's stories and poems.

Pat is a graduate of Adelphi University with a B.A. in English. She is married and lives in West Los Angeles with her husband and three tortoises. The tortoises enjoy a life of luxury in Pat's back yard, and one day may crawl into one of her stories. To top it all off, this petite lady is an instrument-rated pilot and holds a black belt in Judo. Her writing richly reflects her compassion, her sense of adventure, her knowledge of courage and her deep understanding of what appeals to children.
