TOKYO, June 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) (Nasdaq:IIJI) (TSE1:3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced the July 2009 release of the IIJ Laptop Security Solution, a new mobile security solution that helps prevent information leaks and other threats through remote operation of the security features on laptop computers on the mobile network.
This solution was developed through the agreement announced last October with Alcatel-Lucent Japan Ltd.,(1) and uses Alcatel-Lucent's OmniAccess3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian (NLG) security product and IIJ's mobile data communication service, IIJ Mobile service. The solution includes a data communications card with both GPS and UTM(2) features that connects via high-speed 3G mobile network, and a gateway server to remotely monitor and control a laptop computer's security features. This solution enables system administrators to connect to and monitor laptop computers anywhere through the data communications card, and if the computer is lost or stolen, immediate action can be taken to implement security measures and protect vital information on the computer.
This IIJ Laptop Security solution provides the following benefits.
1. Instant remote control of laptop computers anywhere The data communications card has its own battery, memory, CPU, and OS, which enables independent operation even when the computer is off. This enables instance access by the system administrator to the computer at any time, and security measures-such as data erasing, backups, system locks-can be implemented 24 hours a day. 2. GPS and UTM features combined into one data communications card Even if the computer is lost or stolen, its location can be obtained via GPS. The laptop will not operate without the data communications card, thus completely protecting information on the computer. It also comes with a firewall and disk encryption feature to protect the computer from unauthorized access and information leaks. 3. Automatic VPN connection for simple and secure remote access Insert the data communications card and the device automatically selects either a 3G, wireless LAN, or LAN network environment and establishes a VPN connection. There are no complex operations required to establish a secure remote-access connection to the company's network. 4. High-speed mobile data communications anywhere in the country A high-speed mobile data communications environment is provided using the 3G/HSDPA networik with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.
See this solution in action at the IIJ booth at the RSA Conference Japan 2009, June 10 to 12, at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex.
As an MVNO, IIJ will continue to provide high value-added services that meet customer needs and to support corporate mobile-broadband networks.
